Balmutti Yondu Ducati Hypermotard Ice Racer

Only a land as unforgiving as Russia could spawn a motorcycle like the Balmutti Yondu. Conceived by Balmutti’s Vitaliy Selyukov, Vitaliy’s goal was to compete at the Baikal Mile at the massive Lake Baikal, where temps can hit as low as -13 degrees. To accomplish his go, Vitaliy came up with a dual-front wheel design with a donor frame and motor from a Ducati Hypermotard — and a little inspiration from Anakin Skywalker’s speeder. Completely designed and built by Vitaliy himself, the front uses reverse handlebars to control the wheels mounted to dual tubular swingarms with a Sachs shock for each. Brembo brakes with wave rotors set in moon discs at all three wheels provide the stopping power, while the 1100cc Ducati L-twin reinforces the genius of the project: A Garrett turbocharger with the turbine removed functions as a custom centrifugal supercharger, with a hand-built pulley system that runs off the crankshaft. A true custom in every sense of the world, the Yondu is the very definition of DIY brilliance.
