44 years after the first G-Class rolled off the line in Graz, Germany, Mercedes is marking a milestone in the model’s history — the 500,000th G-Wagen produced. The one-off custom is inspired by the 1986 280 GE, painted agave green, one of the first G-Class colors, with turn signal indicators in a specific shade of orange used throughout the ’70s. Five-spoke sterling silver wheels, badging on the rear doors, and a rear spare tire cover with a large Mercedes emblem also hark back to the SUV’s early years. Inside, the seats feature chequered fabric inserts, and the passenger-side grab handle has “No. 500,000” in agave green matching the exterior. 2024 will be another milestone year in the history of the G-Class when the first all-electric model launches.
