The Two Coats You Need Right Now, According to Milan’s Most Stylish People

Milan Fashion Week kicked off today, headlined by designer Sabato De Sarno’s debut menswear show for Gucci. Outside the venue—the industrial Fonderia Carlo Macchi—a constellation of fashion insiders and A-list celebrities milled about in anticipation, huddled into their outerwear to combat the January chill. A broad taxonomy of winter layers were on display, including a handful of stellar leather jackets and gorpy puffers, but the majority of attendees seemed to be cloaked in one of two distinct styles: long, sumptuous, enveloping topcoats, and cropped, voluminous, oversized bombers.
