Milan Fashion Week kicked off today, headlined by designer Sabato De Sarno’s debut menswear show for Gucci. Outside the venue—the industrial Fonderia Carlo Macchi—a constellation of fashion insiders and A-list celebrities milled about in anticipation, huddled into their outerwear to combat the January chill. A broad taxonomy of winter layers were on display, including a handful of stellar leather jackets and gorpy puffers, but the majority of attendees seemed to be cloaked in one of two distinct styles: long, sumptuous, enveloping topcoats, and cropped, voluminous, oversized bombers. GQ sent photographer Cris Fragkou to survey the scene and capture all the outrageously fresh coats.
