Banksy’s Holywell Row Happy Choppers

In 2006, the Shoreditch office building in London became the canvas for Banksy’s Holywell Row Happy Choppers. The artwork drew large crowds and constantly triggered the security light, leading the owner to cover the mural with black paint and sell the space. Years later, the new owners discovered the hidden Banksy when reading Steve Lazarides’ book “Banksy Captured,” and commissioned the Fine Art Restoration Company to salvage the masterpiece. After the year-long process, it’s now being auctioned by Anderson & Garland. The original piece depicts a fleet of spray-painted Apache helicopters donning pink bows and spans six feet wide and four feet tall. Due to the restoration, it’s been dissected into eight pieces. Prospective buyers can view the piece on March 15, 16, and 18, while bidding begins on March 20.
